A. M. HASAN  (a.k.a. Helen M. Stackhouse)

My Why ~ I paint to “share” my talents with others and to Praise and Thank The One Who gave them to me.
The purpose of my art is not to try to imitate The Creator’s work.  I want my paintings to serve as a reminder
to those of us who spend a large portion of our life inside our “man-made” environments of the Beauty and
Majesty of His Creation that Sustains us.

Short Biography ~ I was born in Nashville, Tennessee.  My artistic talents surfaced in preschool.  After
graduating from high school, I received some formal art training at the University of Tennessee.  During the
70’s I exhibited at the Parthenon Gallery in Centennial Park and sold several paintings at Vanderbilt
University’s Italian Street Fair and other art venues.  I worked as a Draftsman for 10 years drawing Highways
and Bridges for the TN DOT.  While raising five children, working full-tine, and pursuing an Associates
degree in Architectural Engineering at night, I did not have the peace of mind or energy to paint.  In the late
90’s I was forced to retire due to illness.  With encouragement from my family and friends I decided to start
painting again.

I moved to Panama City, FL in 2001.  I have been a member of the Panama City Artists group for several
years and served as chairperson of the Social Committee and the Taco Bell Exhibit. My Art has been
exhibited at the

9/11 Exhibit
PCA Exhibit at the Marina Civic Center,
The Panama City Artist Show and Sale at the Visual Arts Center,
The St. Andrews Marina,
The Sherman Archade,
the Nature’s Gallery event,
The Museum of Man In The Sea,
St. Andrews State Park Visitor’s Center,
The Indian Summer Festival,
the Lynn Haven Taco Bell
the Health Department,
the City Government Building
and numerous events and exhibits in the Panama City area.

I am currently participating in Art in Public Places and have paintings at City Hall and the Health Department. I
am also serving as a chairperson of the Taco Bell Exhibit for the Art in Business committee. My media of
choice are Acrylic, Oil and Watercolor.  I also design Wearable Art and Craft items.

In 2007 I received a VSA Arts of Florida grant to teach disabled children as a visiting artist at Petronis
Elementary School.

I am married and have been an active member of the Bay County Islamic Society and AARP Chapter 1315
for several years. I am majoring in Drafting and Architectural Design at Gulf Coast Community College.
