CityArts Creative Directors
CityArts is operated by its Creative Directors.  The Creative Directors include groups and individuals that use the co-op
for their own events or events and classes that are open to the public.  Directors have many benefits, including gallery
privileges, and are eligible for Artist's Studios.  Directors make a one-year commitment to the co-op.
Contact any current Director for more information about applying for a Directorship.

People call here almost every time I'm here asking about some art-related thing. Lately I had someone interested in
Irish Step Dance - sent to Teresa, a sculptor who wants to exhibit and may need a place to work, two girls who were
amazed by all we had to offer, and a woman looking for kids art lessons. Today an out-of town English teacher said
"There's such a need for places like this."  Personally, without the coop I wouldn't know some of the most awesome
people I've ever met.

Today I glanced up at the edge of my window where I keep my happy egg seperator that Janice Adams made and I
purchased in the Gallery.  I realized that before CityArts, I didn't own a single piece of original art in my home other
than the paintings my father had given me.  I had never once thought about the different styles of art or artists.  I
was actually pretty close-minded to any style that didn't look like my father's.

But now...I have photos by Jack, watercolors by Kat, acrylic by Lew, pottery by Colleen and Janice, jewlery by Diana
and Jan, collage art from Michelle, and Pensive from Heather P and countless other smaller works from Cloud of
Ideas all decorating my home.  For the first time ever, I took belly dance classes with Gypsy Parvana because of the
new connection with them and I (somewhat) danced with a partner for the first time ever with Russell.  I have given
small and large objects of art to friends and family as gifts.  I even reconnected with my cousin, who I had not talked
to in years, because of his interest in the Cooperative.  I have a new interest and a respect for the different styles of
art and the work that goes into creating it.  And...most importantly...I am not sure if I will ever be able to purchase a
mass-produced piece of decor for my home ever again.

Look at how many things I have seen and done, all because of this wonderful mix of people. Kira

I love CityArts Cooperative! It houses many  I consider my friends. It encompasses and inspires amazing art- mine and
others I admire. It teaches me while I teach others. And other directors teach me things- like patience, rethinking my
views, looking at different viewpoints, thinking before reacting. All these wonderful aspects contained in one building.
Without all of you, I would be Totally  Bored. I love the diversity.

CityArts has made a huge difference in my life.  It gives me the ability to express my creative side and fulfills my love
of teaching dance.  For me, teaching is totally different than anything else I do in my life.  It is one of the most
fulfilling and rewarding experiences to watch a student that "gets it!".  One thing that I really love about the coop is
the way that it changes every time that I come in.  There's always some new art or displays or improvements.  I enjoy
so much being a creative director because of the friendships and great people that make up the coop.
